Women’s Basketball Suffers First Loss of Season

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio.  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (5-1, 0-1) fell to Spring Arbor University (6-1, 1-0) at Ariel Arena on Saturday, November 18.

The first half of the Crossroads League opener was close as MVNU only trailed 26-30. A dominant second half from Spring Arbor however sent MVNU to a 54-73 loss.

 

Inside the Box Score:

MVNU shot 37.9% (22-58) from the field and 30.8% (4-13) from three-point range. SAU shot 42.9% (27-63) from the field and 42.9% (6-14) from three-point range.

MVNU out-assisted SAU 19 to 15.

MVNU had trouble taking care of the ball as it finished the game with 24 turnovers.

Madelyn Lawson – 13 points (5-9 FG, 2-3 3PT), 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 1 assist.

Peyton Davis – 11 points (3-6 FG), 2 steals, 2 assists, 1 rebound.

Katie Sprang – 10 points (5-8 FG, 0-1 3PT), 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist.

Noelle Lavery – 9 points (4-10 FG, 1-2 3PT), 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal.

Angela Roshak – 6 points (3-11 FG), 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, 1 steal.

Emily Walker – 3 points (1-5 FG, 1-4 3PT), 8 assists, 3 steals, 1 rebound.

MVNU will be back in Ariel Arena on Tuesday, November 21 against Taylor University at 5:00pm.
