Women’s Basketball Begins Season with Blowout Win at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (1-0) opened the 2023-24 season on the road at Kenyon College on Thursday, October 26.

MVNU controlled the game from the start as it never trailed once. MVNU entered halftime with a 31-20 lead. The defense continued to stifle Kenyon in the second half as MVNU allowed just 18 points. The dominant defensive showing propelled MVNU to a 63-38 win on opening night.

MVNU shot 42.1% from the floor while also holding Kenyon to just 24.1% shooting and 7.7% shooting from three. MVNU forced 15 turnovers and finished the game with just 11 of its own.

MVNU won the rebounding battle 42-40.

Angela Roshak – 11 points (3-7 FG, 1-1 3PT, 4-6 FT), 8 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 steals.

Madelyn Lawson – 9 points (4-6 FG, 2-4 3PT), 3 rebounds.

Emily Walker – 6 points (3-5 FG), 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 block.

 

What's Next:

MVNU travels to Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Wednesday, November 1. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm.
