MVNU Tennis Ready to Open Season at Marian

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's and women's tennis teams are gearing up for their first match of the 2024 season at Marian University. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 5.

The men's team is entering its season with a blend of experienced players as well as promising newcomers. The team is looking to build off last year under the guidance of their head coach, Jeff Bane. Andrew Hare and Carter Jones are the two seniors who will look to provide leadership on and off the court for MVNU. The Cougars added five freshmen (Blake Boyer, Tommy Dappert, Sam Mockbee, and Matthew Sanders) as well as Baldo Karinja (JR), a transfer from Eastern Nazarene.

The women's team is composed of seniors Kiersten Winey and Audrey Cochran, along with sophomore Deah Bresson, and freshman, Andrea Green.  Winey and Cochran are looking to provide leadership as well for MVNU, and also finish their careers strong in a Cougar uniform.

Both teams are enthusiastic about their season and ready to begin play on the courts. The first home match for MVNU will be on Monday, September 9 against Indiana Wesleyan at 1:00pm.
