Strong Second Half Pushes MVNU to Victory at Kentucky Christian
GRAYSON, Ky. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (7-4) played at Kentucky Christian University (3-10) on Friday, December 13 to begin Christmas break.
MVNU struggled offensively in the first half, shooting just 25.7% from the floor in the first half and just 2-17 from three. MVNU entered the break trailing 24-28 to the Knights. MVNU got things going in the third quarter, taking a 31-30 lead with 8:12 left after a Serenitee Johnson three. Trailing 40-41, a layup from Naomi Keib ignited a 9-0 run that shifted control over to the Lady Cougars for the rest of the game. MVNU held a 49-41 lead at the end of the third and outscored the hosts 25-13 in the period.
In the fourth, MVNU continued to stretch its lead and would go up by as many as 14 in the quarter. In the end, MVNU secured the 65-52 win on the road, improving to 7-4 on the season. MVNU shot 44% from the field and 31.2% in the second half of the game.
