Second Half Struggles Lead to Loss for Women’s Basketball at USF
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (9-16, 3-12) played at the University of Saint Francis (15-9, 8-7) on Wednesday, February 14.
The first quarter was slow for both teams as each struggled offensively to start. Despite finishing the first quarter 1-10 from the field, MVNU's defense kept them in the game, holding USF to just 26.7% shooting. MVNU trailed 10-6 after the first and entered halftime down 28-23. The offensive struggles carried over into the second half for MVNU as it was outscored 37-22 the rest of the game. USF's offense got hot in the fourth quarter, hitting 5-8 threes to put the game out of reach. MVNU would go onto fall by a final score of 65-45.
