Slow Start Leads to Loss Against Huntington

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (6-8, 0-4) fell to Huntington University (9-5, 3-1) by a score of 85-67 on Wednesday, January 3. 

MVNU got off to an extremely slow start as it fell behind 17-2 with 3:24 left in the first quarter. MVNU was able to close the gap, entering the break trailing 39-32. Despite the effort to get back into the game, Huntington was able to keep the Lady Cougars from sparking any sort of comeback in the second half.

   

Inside the Box Score: 

MVNU shot 41.2% from the floor and just 18% (2-11) from three.

Huntington shot 52% from the field and a blistering 47.4% (9-19) from deep.

MVNU outrebounded the Foresters 40 to 34.

The Lady Cougars took care of the ball as they finished with just 10 turnovers. MVNU had 18 assists on the night.

Peyton Davis – 14 points (4-14 FG, 6-6 FT), 7 rebounds, 6 assists.

Angela Roshak – 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-1 FT), 6 rebounds, 1 assist. 

Katie Sprang – 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-3 FT), 3 rebounds.

MVNU plays at Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana on Saturday, January 6. Tipoff is set for 1:00pm.
