
Lady Cougars Get Back in Win Column with Victory over Missouri Baptist
UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (6-7) concluded the Governors State University Winter Classic with a 71-64 victory on Friday, December 29.
MVNU entered the half tied at 29-29 with Missouri Baptist (2-7). After a late run in the third for MBU, MVNU found itself down 46-51 heading into the fourth. The Lady Cougars remained calm and stayed composed in the final period, clawing their way back into the game. A Noelle Lavery jump shot with 7:14 left in fourth gave MVNU a 54-53 lead. MVNU never trailed again in the game. With a 63-61 lead with 1:31 left in the game, a Katie Sprang three iced the game for good.

MVNU shot 43.1% from the field and 30% (6-20) from three-point range. MVNU held MBU to 38.9% from the floor and 38.5% from three (5-13).
MVNU outrebounded MBU 41-34 and out-assisted the competition 17-12. MVNU only had 14 turnovers.
