Women’s Basketball Defeated at No.14 Rio Grande

RIO GRANDE, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (5-5) fell at No.14 Rio Grande (11-2) on Friday, December 15.

MVNU had a strong first quarter as it finished with a 19-16 lead. However, Rio Grande picked up the defensive pressure the rest of the way. Turnovers and the inability to grab rebounds on defense led to a 67-94 loss in the end to the Red Storm.

MVNU turned the ball over 27 times which led to 33 points for the Red Storm.

MVNU was outrebounded 45-28 and gave up 20 offensive boards which led to 25 second chance points.

MVNU outshot Rio Grande, shooting 50% from the field compared to 46.3%.
