Lady Cougars Lose Heartbreaker to Trailblazers

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (5-4) fell to Ohio Christian University (7-2) 64-65 on Tuesday, December 12. 

 

MVNU held a 64-62 lead late after Emily Walker's jump shot put MVNU up with 18 seconds left. Unfortunately for the Lady Cougars, a foul on an OCU three-point attempt gave the visitors three shots with 16 seconds on the clock. The Trailblazers hit all three attempts and left Ariel Arena with a one-point victory as MVNU's last second shot attempt for the win was no good as time expired.

   

Inside the Box Score: 

MVNU shot 38.6% from the floor and 81.8% from the free throw line, but also struggled from deep as it finished just 2-17 (11.8%).

OCU shot 39% from the field and just 13.3% (2-15) shooting from three.

OCU outrebounded MVNU 40-37.

Madelyn Lawson – 14 points (6-13 FG, 2-7 3PT), 6 rebounds, 2 blocks. 

Walker – 8 points (4-9 FG), 5 rebounds, 8 assists. 

Peyton Davis – 8 points (2-5 FG, 4-4 FT), 1 assist, 5 rebounds.
