Late Three from Lavery Propels MVNU to 2-0 Start

ANN ARBOR, Mich. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (2-0) defeated Concordia University (1-2) by a final score of 59-55 on Wednesday, November 1.

In a back-and-forth battle late, Concordia found itself with a 55-54 lead with 16 seconds left in the game. Noelle Lavery made her presence felt for MVNU as she drained the go-ahead three to put MVNU up 57-55. MVNU got the defensive stop it needed down the stretch to walk away with the hard-fought road win.

MVNU shot 38.9% from the floor while also holding Concordia to just 31.8% shooting and 22.2% shooting from three. MVNU converted 38.1% (8-21) of its threes on the night.

MVNU forced 14 turnovers against the Cardinals.
