MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (17-12, 10-10 CL) played at Bethel University (8-26, 3-17 CL) on Thursday, April 10 in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Game 1 Summary:
MVNU got off to a speedy start, scoring eight runs through the first two innings of the game in the 12-3, run-rule win. MVNU had 11 hits in the game and saw significant contributions from Skylar Zimmerman, Dakota Staffan, and Avery Miller, who each had a home run and combined for nine RBI in the game. Maddelyn Wine picked up her ninth win of the season in the circle for the Lady Cougars. Wine pitched five innings, allowing three runs and six hits, while also having six strikeouts.
Game 2 Summary:
Like game one, MVNU got off to another fast start, scoring eight runs through the first two innings of play. Zimmerman continued her huge day by smashing two more home runs to go with seven RBI. Staffan and Miller also stayed hot, each hitting homers for the second consecutive game. MVNU went on to win by a score of 13-6. Bailey Sheets was credited with the win for MVNU in the circle, while Nadia Hoffman pitched four scoreless innings of relief. Hoffman allowed no earned runs and had four strikeouts for the Lady Cougars.

MVNU heads to Upland, Indiana on Friday, April 11 for a doubleheader at Taylor University. Game one is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
