SPRING ARBOR, Mich. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University softball team (15-10, 8-8 CL) traveled to Spring Arbor, Michigan to compete in a conference doubleheader against Spring Arbor University on Tuesday, April 1.
Game 1 Summary:
The Lady Cougars started their scoring in the top of the second inning, driving in three runs. They followed that up with two more runs in the top of the third, extending their lead to 5-0. Spring Arbor responded in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs to make it 5-2.
SAU continued to fight back, scoring one more run in the bottom of the fifth, but MVNU couldn't be stopped. In the final inning of the game, MVNU exploded for seven runs, sealing the win.
Leading the charge offensively for MVNU were Sophie Durbin, Kylie Rohr, Avery Miller, and Sydney Hoover, who combined for seven hits and nine RBI. In the circle, Maddelyn Wine secured her eighth win of the season, pitching seven innings. Wine allowed four hits, three runs, and had five strikeouts.
Game 2 Summary:
Bailey Sheets earned her third win of the season, pitching a complete game after facing 31 batters while striking out three. The Lady Cougars' offense supported her, scoring five runs on six hits.
Sophomore Dakota Staffan contributed with a home run, two hits, and three RBIs, while Rohr also had two hits. Mollie Pentz added an RBI to drive in another run. MVNU secured a 5-1 victory, completing the sweep at Spring Arbor.

The Lady Cougars will continue their road stretch with a doubleheader at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana on Friday, April 4. The first pitch will be at 4:00 p.m.
