Men’s Volleyball Defeated by RV Golden Eagles

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (14-10, 10-8) finished its series against (RV) Cornerstone University (21-4, 15-3) on Saturday, April 13.

MVNU honored the playing careers of seniors Spencer Stanley, Jaysen Matsumoto, Mikaja Dart, Jonathan Champlin, Riley Barretto, Luke Funte, and Landon Ewers. The class was the first signing class in MVNU men's volleyball program history and has been the foundation of Doug Sherer's four-year tenure as varsity head coach.

MVNU took on a strong Golden Eagle squad and would fall in three by scores of 13-25, 20-25, 20-25.

 

Top Performers:

Stanley – 16 kills, .429 hitting percentage, 2 digs, 2 blocks.

Matsumoto – 26 assists, 2 digs, 2 kills.

Ewers – 5 kills, 1 service ace, 1 block.

Noah Wineberg – 4 kills, .300 hitting percentage.

Tyler Monnin – team-high 5 digs.

 

What's Next:

MVNU will host Lawrence Tech in the opening round of the WHAC Tournament on Tuesday, April 16 in a four vs. five matchup. Match time is at 7:00pm.
