MVNU Beats Golden Eagles in Five

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's volleyball team (18-6, 12-5 WHAC) defeated (RV) Cornerstone University (17-11, 8-9 WHAC) in five sets on Friday, March 24.

After falling in set one 17-25, MVNU showed great resiliency to take the next set by a final of 25-22. Cornerstone punched back, taking set three 25-20. MVNU turned it up in set four as it dominated the Golden Eagles 25-10. MVNU took the fifth and final set 15-12, spoiling Cornerstone's Senior Night.

 

Inside the Box Score

Jaysen Matsumoto had 41 assists, seven digs, and seven kills for MVNU.

Spencer Stanley had a double-double of 12 kills and 14 digs.

Landon Ewers has 12 kills and three blocks.

Makoa Van Gieson finished the match with 10 kills and three digs.

Daniel Skrzypchak had 13 digs for MVNU on defense.

 

What's Next

MVNU competes in the Cornerstone Tri-Tournament on Saturday, March 25. MVNU takes on (RV) Cornerstone again at 11:00am, followed by (RV) Olivet Nazarene University at 1:30pm.
