Cougars Claw Past (RV) Golden Bears at CH4

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer team (3-0-4) hosted (RV) West Virginia Tech (1-2-2) at CH4 Stadium on Friday, September 13.

MVNU got on the board first in the first half thanks to Mattia Zuin's first goal of the season. After a Golden Bear goal late in the second half, Zack Bowser responded seven minutes later with his fifth goal of the week to put MVNU on top for good. Despite playing a man down after a red card for the final nine minutes, the Cougars gutted it out for their third win of the season by a final score of 2-1.

Julius Blumenauer picked up his first win of the season in goal for MVNU and finished the night with three saves.

Tech had more total shots (15-11), but MVNU got more shots on goal than the Golden Bears (6-4).
