
Men’s Lacrosse Opens North Carolina Trip with Win over Tornados
BREVARD, NC. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team (4-0) embarked on its North Carolina trip, beginning with a matchup against the Brevard College Tornados (0-2) on Friday, February 14. MVNU won with a commanding 19-5 victory.
MVNU came out firing in the first period, establishing a dominant lead with eight unanswered goals. Dillon Hittle opened the scoring at the 12-minute mark off an assist from Angelo Elia, followed by Elia scoring unassisted less than two minutes later. Ryan LaAsmar, Ethan Haney, and Hittle each added to the total, with Haney scoring twice off feeds from Tyler Dickerson. Hittle struck again on an extra-man opportunity, and Gabe Wolf closed the quarter with a goal, giving MVNU an 8-0 advantage.
After Brevard narrowed the gap in the second, MVNU regained momentum in the third, with LaAsmar, Haney, and Wolf each adding to the lead. Haney and Hittle capitalized on man-up plays, and Hittle capped off the period with a goal assisted by Elia, pushing MVNU ahead 15-4. The final quarter saw MVNU continue to dominate, with LaAsmar scoring while down a man, Haney notching another off Dickerson's pass, and Elia adding an unassisted goal. Haney sealed the scoring with his eighth goal of the game, assisted by Zechariah Gee, securing MVNU's 19-5 win.
