Dickerson Surpasses 100 Career Points in Victory Over Heidelberg

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. —  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team (3-0) returned to CH4 Stadium on Saturday, February 8, to face Heidelberg University.

MVNU delivered a commanding offensive display, defeating Heidelberg 13-3. Ryan LaAsmar opened the scoring at 10:49 in the first quarter, assisted by Tyler Dickerson marking Dickerson's 100th career point at MVNU. Ethan Haney extended the lead with a goal at 6:16, set up by Gabe Wolf. Heidelberg responded with a late goal, closing the first quarter at 2-1. In the second, Dickerson scored unassisted at 10:35, and Haney added another goal off an Angelo Elia assist at 9:11, extending MVNU's lead to 4-1.

MVNU maintained its momentum in the third, with Dickerson striking again at 12:55, followed by Elia at 11:58. HU pulled one back at 5:34 to cut the deficit to 6-2, but MVNU quickly responded with goals from LaAsmar (4:49) and Haney (3:10), extending the lead to 8-2. The fourth quarter saw MVNU in full control, as Haney, Zechariah Gee, LaAsmar, and McKaden Thomas each found the net. HU added one more, but MVNU sealed the dominant 13-3 victory.

MVNU's defense made a strong impact, led by Preston Barnes, who was a defensive force with three ground balls and four caused turnovers. Bryce Morningstar played a crucial role as well, securing four ground balls and forcing two turnovers. Rylin Batac added to the defensive effort with two ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Zach Zeisig contributed with one ground ball and two caused turnovers.

MVNU men's lacrosse will head on its North Carolina trip, kicking off with a game against St. Andrews (NC) on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 4:00 p.m.
