Men’s Lacrosse Picks Up Road Victory at Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. —  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team (2-0) traveled to the Rissell-Schreyer Dome to take on the Thiel College Tomcats on Wednesday, February 5.

MVNU dominated from the start, delivering a commanding 22-7 victory over Thiel. The Cougars set the tone early with an explosive first quarter, outscoring Thiel 8-1. They carried that momentum into the second, adding nine more goals while holding Thiel to just two. The pace slowed in the third, with both teams managing only a single goal, but MVNU closed strong in the fourth, netting four more goals to seal the win.

Ethan Haney led the offensive charge with four goals and an assist, taking a team-high nine shots. Gabe Wolf and Ryan LaAsmar played key playmaking roles, each contributing three goals and three assists, while Angelo Elia and McKaden Thomas also found the net three times. Dillon Hittle added a pair of goals and an assist, with Edward Burcham chipping in two goals as well. Zechariah Gee was dominant in the faceoff/midfield role, securing sixteen ground balls and assisting on two goals. Gee won twenty-four out of twenty-seven at the faceoff X. Defensively, Rylin Batac and Bryce Morningstar were active, with Batac collecting six ground balls and four caused turnovers, while Morningstar tallied seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. The team's balanced effort on both ends of the field highlighted their offensive efficiency and defensive resilience in the 22-7 victory.

 

What's Next

MVNU men's lacrosse returns to CH4 Stadium on Saturday, February 8, for a matchup against Heidelberg University. The faceoff is scheduled for noon.
