Men’s Lacrosse Wins Home Opener at CH4

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. – The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team (4-0) had its first home game of the season at CH4 Stadium as it hosted Lourdes University (1-1) on Monday, February 26.

The Cougars struck first in the initial quarter, taking a 1-0 lead less than two minutes in. However, Lourdes quickly turned the tables with an offensive surge, netting four goals before the quarter's end. As the first period concluded, Lourdes held a 4-1 advantage over MVNU. The second quarter witnessed minimal scoring, with Lourdes adding just one goal to its tally, bringing the halftime score to 5-1.

Near the end of the half, several penalties occurred, altering the game's momentum in favor of MVNU. Capitalizing on Lourdes' non-releasable penalties, MVNU took advantage with five man-up goals on offense, and then added two more going into the final period of play. The Cougars added one more goal in the fourth to secure the 9-7 victory.

Men's lacrosse will play their first conference match of the season against Clarke University on Saturday, March 9 in Chicago, Illinois. Start time is set for noon.
