MVNU Competes at Crossroads League Bowling Tournament Championship

JACKSON, Mich. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's and women's bowling teams competed at the Crossroads League Bowling Tournament Championship in Jackson, Michigan on Thursday, February 29.

The women's team finished fourth after 12 baker games with a score of 1974. The 12th game was for qualifying, and MVNU moved on as the top four advance to match play. MVNU took on the first seed and eventual champions, Spring Arbor University. MVNU battled for three games and tied the first game with a score of 206. MVNU fell in the next two.

For the men, the team was in fourth after the first four and eight baker games. MVNU finished fifth after the 12th baker game. The men battled all day at Jax-60 and finished with a score of 2149.

The season awards from the Crossroads League were also handed out at the conclusion of the tournament, and MVNU represented well. Women's bowler Hannah Vaughn was named as a First Team All-Crossroads League team winner and had the second highest average during the season. Mackenzie Kauffman was named to the Newcomer of the Year Team, Paige Hicks was named the Champions of Character winner, and head coach Amber Brubaker was named as the Crossroads League Champions of Character Coach.

The men's team also had a few members honored. Kobe Green was part of the Newcomer of the Year Team and Bryce Rinehart received the Men's Champions of Character award.

Vaughn, Ashleigh Westervelt, Alayna Mack, Abigail Larkin, Jacob Burre, Rinehart, and Christian Phillips were all named to the Crossroads League Bowling All-Academic Team to wrap up the 2023-24 season.
