Cougars Compete at OBC Championships, Conference Awards Handed Out

COLUMBUS, Ohio. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's and women's bowling teams competed at the Ohio Bowling Conference Championships on Saturday, February 11 at Palace Lanes.

The women placed seventh out of 13 teams with a score of 5735 and the men placed 12th out of 16 teams with a final tally of 6436. Marlin Yarborough led the men as he finished in 42nd with a score of 948 and a tournament average of 189.6.

Hannah Vaughn placed 23rd overall for the women with an individual total of 868, which was good for a tournament average of 173.6. Ashley Westervelt placed 36th with a score of 817 (163.4 average).

The Ohio Bowling Conference announced its awards for the season after the event, and MVNU had a strong representation. Below are the award winners for the Cougars:

MVNU Women's Character: Sophomore, Paige Hicks

MVNU Men's Character: Freshman, Yarborough

MVNU Women's Newcomer (top new women's highest OBC average): Freshman, Westervelt
