Hot Shooting Lifts MVNU to Victory against UM-Dearborn

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (3-1) traveled north for the first day of the JBA Classic, hosted by Rochester Christian University on Friday, November 15.

MVNU took on UM-Dearborn (1-5) in the first game of the classic. The Cougars led from start to finish against the Wolverines and led by as many as 32 points in the first half. MVNU shot 58% from the field and drained 10 threes in the first half at a 55% clip to take a 62-33 lead into halftime.

Thanks to the big first half, MVNU was able to walk away with a 98-79 outcome for its first road win of the season. MVNU saw a balanced scoring attack in the win as five Cougars finished in double-figures.

 

Inside the Box Score:

MVNU shot lights out, hitting 52% from the field and 46% from three. The Cougars hit 14 threes in the game.

The Cougars dominated the glass, outrebounding UM-Dearborn 52-24.

MVNU had 21 assists to just 14 turnovers.

MVNU's bench came up big, finishing the contest with 35 points.

MVNU concludes the JBA Classic with a game against (RV) Rochester Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16.
