MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-0) kicked off its 2024-25 season on Saturday, November 2, with a matchup against the Kenyon College Owls in Ariel Arena.
The Cougars and Owls engaged in a tight back-and-forth battle in the first half, with MVNU holding a narrow 26-24 lead at the 8:24 mark. The Cougars seized control, outscoring Kenyon by 21 points for the remainder of the first half, heading into halftime with a 47-31 lead.
MVNU maintained its momentum in the second half, achieving the largest lead of the day of 28 points at the 10:36 mark, with a score of 64-36. Ultimately, the Cougars delivered a strong opening performance across all aspects of the game, securing a decisive 83-57 victory.
