Cougars Win Big Over Cleary

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio.  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (8-1) had a home matchup against Cleary University (0-8) on Friday, December 8.

MVNU defeated Cleary by a final score of 102-60. The Cougars dominated from the opening tip as they never trailed in the ballgame. At one point in the second half, MVNU led by 47 points. 13 Cougars touched the floor against Cleary in what proved to be a total team effort in Ariel Arena.

 

Inside the Box Score:

MVNU forced 28 turnovers which led to 34 points.

The Cougars got 44 points from the bench and saw 12 different players score in the game.

MVNU shot 49.3% from the floor (33-67) and converted 38.9% (14-36) of its threes on the night.

MVNU held Cleary to 36.5% shooting from the floor (23-63) and 25.0% (6-24) from the three-point line.

MVNU had 20 assists to just 14 turnovers in the game.

MVNU shot 81.5% (22-27) on foul shots.

Grant Burkholder – Career-high 14 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 3PT), 3 assists, 1 rebound, 1 steal.

Carter Pline – 9 points (2-3 FG), 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block, 1 assist.

What's Next:

MVNU will be back in action on Thursday, December 14. It will be on the road at Judson in Elgin, Illinois. Tipoff is set for 6:00pm.
