Men’s Basketball Rolls in Homecoming Finale to Remain Undefeated

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio.  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team (4-0) concluded the MVNU Homecoming Classic against Washington Adventist (MD) (3-4) in Ariel Arena on Saturday, November 11.

After a close first half in which MVNU led 41-37 at the break, the Cougars took control in the second half with strong shooting (48.5%) and high-energy on the defensive end to get 94-79 victory.

 

Inside the Box Score:

MVNU forced 27 turnovers against Washington Adventist which led to 26 points.

MVNU shot 45.7% from the floor (32-70) and converted 32.3% (10-31) of its threes on the night.

Washington Adventist shot 48.4% from the floor (30-62), but MVNU did a great job of defending the three as it held the guests to just 20.0% (4-20) from beyond the arc.

MVNU had 22 assists to just 11 turnovers in the game.

MVNU shot 83.3% (20-24) on foul shots.

Carter Pline – 11 points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3PT), 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals.

Milton Gage – 7 points (2-6 FG), 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals.

"Really proud of this group tonight. Washington Adventist is a good team that is going to win a lot of games this season. Their size and athleticism is unique. We have some things we have to continue to grow in and we're excited to get better next week."

 

What's Next:

MVNU begins conference play in Ariel Arena on Saturday, November 18 against Spring Arbor University. Tip-off is set for 3:00pm.
