NAIA Announces Competitive Cheer Scholar-Athletes
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After previously announcing honors for the sports of basketball and bowling, the NAIA announced its 2024 Daktronics Competitive Cheer Scholar Athletes.
The Mount Vernon Nazarene University Competitive Cheerleading team saw Abby Schmetzer earn herself a spot on the list of 234 student-athletes from across the nation. Schmetzer is a junior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is majoring in Speech-Language Pathology.
To be eligible for an NAIA Scholar-Athlete award, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale while attending one full year at their current institution.
