Baseball Defeated by Grand View

DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team (3-4) continued its Florida slate with a matchup against Grand View (5-3) on Wednesday, February 28.

Grand View jumped on the Cougars early, scoring five runs in the first inning and tacking on two more in the second to take a commanding 7-0 lead early. Rider Minnick got MVNU on the board in the top of the third with an RBI-groundout to second that allowed Blaine Keener to cross home plate.

Grand View didn't let up in the bottom of the inning as it drove home five more runs to make the score 12-1. Freshman, Brady Lester hit the second homerun of his career, a solo shot, in the top of the fifth to give MVNU its final run of the ballgame. The Cougars would fall by a final score of 2-12.

Joey Lopez shinned for the Cougars in his three innings of relief as he allowed no hits or runs while also striking out five batters.

 

What's Next:

MVNU will begin its series against Crossroads League opponent Bethel University on Friday, March 1. First pitch is at 9:00am
