Four Cougars Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball Team

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — CoSIDA announced its Academic All-District Baseball Teams and the Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team had four members make the list of student athletes.

The 2023 Academic All-District Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

MVNU's academic honorees included sophomore infielder Hunter Billman, senior infielder Cooper Crawford, senior pitcher Josh Pettit and sophomore pitcher Maxwell Donawa.

To receive the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale, must have achieved sophomore status academically with at least one full year at their current institution, and must have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 7.
