Cougars Fall to Judson

AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The Mount Vernon Nazarene University baseball team (6-4) fell to Judson University (2-8) in the last game of its Florida trip on Tuesday, March 7.

Judson claimed momentum scoring three run in the bottom of the first and two more through the second and third innings. MVNU battled back in the fifth thanks to an RBI-double from Casey Kalman and two RBI's from Hunter Billman. Hogan Heck scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to just one in the top of the seventh, but Judson answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. MVNU would go on to fall by a final of 4-8.

Johnny Nixon was tagged with the loss on the mound after pitching 2.1 innings to start the game. Maxwell Donawa pitched 4.1 innings of relief, allowing six hits and no earned runs. Donawa had three strikeouts.

What's Next

MVNU will play its home conference opener on March 10 at Cougar Field. First pitch in the doubleheader against the Lancers is set for 2:00pm.
