Cougars Take Down Trinity Baptist in Auburndale

MVNU used a late surge to pull away from Trinity Baptist. Leading 3-1 entering the eighth inning, MVNU exploded for five runs to put the ballgame away. An RBI from Joe Poremsky and two RBI's each from Rider Minnick and Zackary Hoop gave MVNU the extra boost it needed down the stretch. The Cougars tacked on another run in the ninth and would go on to win 9-2.

MVNU continued to hit the ball well as it accumulated 12 hits. Blaine Keener had a solo homerun, and Minnick finished 3-4 at the plate to pace MVNU offensively.

Sam LoPiccolo got the win on the mound for MVNU as he allowed five hits and one earned run in four innings of work. LoPiccolo struck out five batters. Jake Hanzie pitched three great innings of relief. Hanzie gave up just one hit, no earned runs, and had five strikeouts on the day.

MVNU plays Ave Maria and Lawrence Tech on Saturday, March 4 in Auburndale, Florida. Game times are set for 9:15am and 12:45pm.
