Women’s Basketball Stays Unbeaten with Blowout Win over Cleary

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio.  The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team (5-0) defeated Cleary University (0-3) in Ariel Arena on Saturday, November 11.

The Lady Cougars closed homecoming weekend with a dominating win over Cleary. The team put together a strong first half as it entered the break winning 45-28. MVNU didn't let up in the second half as it cruised to an 81-54 win.

MVNU shot 54.1% from the floor while holding Cleary to just 35.6% shooting in the game.

MVNU forced 22 turnovers against Cleary, which led to 24 points.

MVNU dominated the paint with 44 points.

Grace Vermilya – 14 points (5-6 FG), 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal.

Angela Roshak – 10 points (5-7 FG), 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists.

Madelyn Lawson – 10 points (4-6 FG, 1-3 3PT), 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal.

MVNU will be back in action on Tuesday, November 14 in an exhibition at NCAA Division 1 Wright State University. Tip-off in Dayton, Ohio is set for 4:00pm.
